Other staff members, feel free to edit/modify my post to put in anything I've forgotten, or suggest for me to add things!
GENERAL GUIDELINES
1.) There is to be no flaming, bashing, trolling, etc. I won't stand for that kind of ridiculous behavior.
2.) No bringing drama to this forum. I don't care if you and another member have some growing hatred of each other from some other site- don't bring it here. I don't want to hear about all the terrible things so and so did, or this and that. I most certainly do not want any drama that happened off of this forum coming back here and resulting in fights and making this a bad experience for the other members. Do NOT bring them into this and do NOT bring your drama here.
3.) If you are having problems with any of the members here, contact a staff member to help you. Do NOT drag your conflict onto the boards and/or make it some huge public spectacle. Otherwise you'll both get into trouble.
4.) Only make one account. This is not a role playing forum, so you have no need for multiple accounts here. The only exceptions are if it's impossible for you to login to your previous account, or if somehow your old account got deleted and you need to register again to get onto the forum.
5.) Be respectful of your fellow members. Everybody is entitled to their own opinion, so if you do not like a topic somebody is debating about, or somebody's opinion- don't go in there and post if the only thing you can do is be offended and insult. If you expect people to respect your opinion on a matter, you must be willing to extend that same courtesy. If you're getting mad about somebody's opinion on something, just don't engage in the thread. If you cannot debate without getting angry at the differing opinion, please stay away from those kind of threads. Not only for other members, but for yourself.
6.) Please, please refrain from excessive cursing. On the general and discussion threads, there is rarely ever a time or place for throwing out heaps of language, and it comes across tacky, inconsiderate, and rude- not to mention the fact it could offend members who don't happen to like having to hear people swearing like sailors. In story content, okay, some language is fine- especially if it fits the characters or situations. However, please put a warning in the thread before the writing if it contains language, and try not to drop the fbomb every other word. There's a point where it's just too much and serves no real purpose to the writing at all.
7.) I do not want any racism, sexism, intolerance for people based on sexuality, religion, etc brought here. Take your prejudices elsewhere. But, remember, this applies to everybody. Keep your personal prejudices off the board and away from sight. I don't really want those kind of topics being approached because I know they'll cause problems.
8.)When role playing, please refrain from godmoding and power playing. This means no perfect characters who can do everything, and no controlling other people's characters. You play the characters you chose, and let your friends play theirs.
Also, if somebody posts a set of rules and standards in their role plays- you must abide by them. If you do not, the role playing thread's creator reserves the right to kick you out.
Do not harass somebody about a role play either. They'll reply when they want. You bugging them about it isn't going to make them do it any sooner.
9.) If you have a suggestion for a board, category, thread, etc- make it in the ideas/suggestion thread- or, if you're too shy, message one of the staff members about it.
10.) Activity is nice, but I understand life gets busy, hectic, and since we don't have a plethora of members right now- it gets easy to avoid this forum because of that. We like activity, but we have a very open door policy on the matter. That being said, however, we'd like it if people who joined posted at least somewhat. Why join a forum you're never going to post in?
11.) Be careful about the stuff you post. Put warnings if it gets dark or Pg-13+, and inform people why in your first post so that people can see what they might come across so they can hit the back button if it's a topic that offends them. I wouldn't use the 'A' word to describe anything, however. Proboards abuse has messaged me twice because of threads that used the word and apparently implied too much for them, so yeah, just fyi. No pronz (:P move the r and o). You can get dark, as I personally enjoy a bit of dark reading, but I warn you that if proboards abuse department complains again, if one of your threads is what annoyed them, it runs the risk of being removed.

CRITIQUE:
Yes, I know critique helps writers to improve. However, since some people's idea of critique leads to flaming or frustration, there need to be some guidelines while approaching this.
1.) First and foremost, NO flaming. Telling someone that their writing style and stories suck is NOT going to help them become a better writer. Any flaming will result in one or two warnings, based upon how offensive the message was, and eventually will lead into a ban. I have no tolerance for that sort of stupidity.
2.) Critique is also not always, ' Great Story'. If the author is looking for ideas on how to improve, or asking what about the story is good or bad, obviously, comments like that are not going to help them out. If you plan on critiquing a story, in which the author has asked one of these things, PLEASE give them more than a 'good story' comment. Tell them what you liked and didn't like, if their grammar was shaky in certain areas, etc. Just be sure to do it in a nice, constructive way.
3.)If you want somebody to give you the rundown on what's good and what's bad, tell us. If you'd like only sugarcoated comments, tell us. If you don't mind what you get and you'll take whatever, mention that. Flaming is not allowed here, so you don't have to worry about being bashed. However, if you cannot handle constructive criticism- YOU'D BETTER MENTION THAT. I don't want any fights or tantrums because you said you could handle critique and then when you get it, you start acted all wounded. If you can't handle it, make that clear. It's not the fault of another member trying to help you out, if they offer tips because you asked for them and you get frustrated.
4.) Exercise those things called tact and common sense! Abide by the golden rule! All of that, okay? Just don't be a complete jerk to anybody, it's unnecessary.
